Baan Saeng Tawan is a mission of the Bless Asia Foundation run by the Thai Lanna Church in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Since the beginning of 2005 it has provided women who are involved in prostitution with the vocational and psycho-social foundation necessary to enable them to choose a new way of life. Our vision is to invite people into life changing relationships where they can experience dignity, healing and hope in the midst of daily life and work.
Several handicraft courses are offered on a rotating basis including jewellery-making, basic sewing, fabric-painting, crochet and card-making. Thai and English language courses are available for both the target group and women-at-risk in the area. Life-skills lessons such as anger management, marital life, problem-solving skills, child-rearing skills and communication skills are inserted in every class. Counseling and health education services are available from time to time according to the need of our clients.
Also, Baan Saeng Tawan seeks to prevent young people from developing wrong attitudes regarding relationships, sex and HIV. We visit colleges and arrange activities covering these issues.
